Recycling

The Village of Wellington encourages all residents to recycle. Recycling not only extends the life of our local landfill and reduces the need for incineration; it saves energy and prevents pollution.  Recycling also creates new products that we use everyday- from soda containers to writing paper.

Recycling is collected once per week curbside (see Collection Schedule).  Items accepted for collection are listed below.

Paper products that go in your yellow bin include:

  • Newspaper

  • Magazines

  • Catalogs

  • Telephone Books

  • Corrugated Cardboard (Must be broken down and no larger than 3’ x 3’)

  • Paper Grocery Bags

Recyclable containers that go in your blue bin include:

·         Plastic containers #1-7

·         Glass Bottles and Jars

·         Aluminum Cans, Foil, and Pie Plates

·         Drink Boxes

·         Milk and Juice Cartons

Please:

·         NO 12-pack Beverage Boxes

·         NO Tissue Boxes

·         NO Cereal Boxes

·         NO Plastic Bags

·         NO Steel Cans or Tins

·         NO Pizza Boxes

Helpful Hints:

  • Recycle Bins must be used to recycle the above materials.  DO NOT place recyclables in plastic bags.

  • Please do not mix plastics, metals and glass with paper cardboard recyclables.  Mixed recyclables will not be collected.

  • Bins must be out for pickup no later than 7 am the day of collection, but no earlier than 6 pm the day before collection.

  • All cardboard boxes must be cut (not folded) to no larger than 3’ x 3’ in size and placed between the blue and yellow bins for collection.
