The Village of Wellington has instituted the CodeRED®
Emergency Notification System - an ultra high-speed telephone
communication service for emergency notifications. This system
allows us to telephone all or targeted areas of the Village in
case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action.
The system is capable of dialing up to 60,000 phone numbers per
hour.
It
then delivers our recorded message to a live person or an
answering machine, making three attempts to connect to any
number.
Examples of times when the CodeRED®
system could be utilized: Drinking water contamination, Missing
person, Fires or Floods, Bomb threat, Hostage situation,
Chemical spill or Gas leak, and other emergency incidents where
rapid and accurate notification is essential for life safety.
No
one should automatically assume his or her phone number is
included. All businesses should register, as well as all
individuals who have unlisted phone numbers, who have changed
their phone number or address within the last year, or who use a
cellular phone as their home phone. Residents who have recently
moved but kept the same listed or unlisted phone number also
need to change their address in the database. For residents who
have caller ID services, the incoming CodeRED®
Notification phone number will be displayed as 999-911-9999.
The information
will only be used for emergency notification purposes. For more information please call (561) 791-4003.
